Singers at 1300 on Fillmore's Gospel Brunch
Sometimes it’s more important to have a healthy soul rather than a healthy meal, or as a personal trainer once told me, “Treat your body like a temple 6 days a week and an amusement park the 7th day.”
For a not –so-healthy but ever so entertaining and deliciously “bad” meal, head over to
1300 on Fillmore’s Gospel Brunch, an honored Southern tradition, available the first and third Sunday of each month with two seatings: 11:00 am followed by a 1:00 pm seating for the performance and three-course prix fixe meal.
For the uninitiated, the Gospel Brunch is a mix of supper club and church-going experience, (can you say Amen?) complemented by a three-course meal that includes a fresh bread basket of Corn Bread, Scones and Chive Biscuits served with Hot Pepper Jam, Honey Butter, a choice of entrees, including 1300 on Fillmore's take on scrambled eggs, grits and applewood smoked bacon, or Spicy Tabasco Cajun Ham and Eggs Benedict, or buttery Cinnamon Brioche French Toast, topped off by one of the pastry chef's dessert, such as the Strawberry-Rhubarb Cobbler, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.
Brunch is priced at $39 per person, and includes a Bellini or Mimosa and coffee and tea.
But listening to a soulful rendition of "Amazing Grace" while sipping on a Mimosa--Priceless!
1300 on Fillmore is a jazz-style restaurant that is part of San Francisco's Fillmore Heritage Center, which is ushering in the rebirth of San Francisco's historic jazz district. The restaurant serves Soulful American Cuisine prepared by Jamaican-British chef/owner David Lawrence, who is creating his own north-meets-south cuisine for San Francisco
