Federal and state investigators raided the office of a weight loss doctor who prescribes HCG to patients seeking to lose weight. Various drugs and patient files were removed from the office of the Port Angeles doctor and accusations were made of marketing and selling unproven imported weight loss drugs.
An unsealed federal search warrant stated that FDA and state health department investigators suspected that the doctor had been importing pharmaceuticals from China that contained the hormone known as HCG.
HCG, and diets with the HCG tagline, have recently returned after a long absence from the line up of popular fad diets. Recently HCG was dubbed by the media and weight loss industry as "the new magic bullet of rapid weight loss."
HCG is a hormone produced in pregnancy and has been hawked in the past as a diet aid. In the 1950s, doctors injected patients with HCG made from the urine of pregnant females. Today oral applications are used also.
Unfortunately, desperate patients who want to lose weight will try anything, especially if a physician tells them it's safe. In numerous studies, HCG has been repeatedly shown to be ineffective for weight loss and is largely rejected by the authors of these studies and legitimate weight loss physicians for administration for weight loss. If HCG was worthless and harmless there would be no issue beyond scamming trusting patients out of their hard earned money. But HCG has its dangers including the formation of blood clots, Ovarian Hyper-stimulation Syndrome, arterial thrombo-embolism, hormonal imbalances in men and women, enlarged prostate, excessive fluid retention, fatigue, mood swings, hair loss, and more negative effects.
The Port Angeles doctor under suspicion referred to himself as a "Weight Loss Doctor," and is a licensed naturopathic doctor. This unfortunately lends an air of legitimacy to his claims that injections of HCG would allow patients to drop up to one pound of body fat a day.
HCG in any form is not presently FDA approved for the treatment of obesity or weight loss, nor has it been proven effective as a treatment of obesity. Any attempt to use HCG for weight loss is done at risk and best avoided.

Just lost 30# using sublingual hcg. Best "diet" ever! If it is SO unsafe why would women receive a hundreds times LARGER dose for infertility? VERY SAFE AND VERY EFFECTIVE! My DH has lost 30#, also, as well as many friends.
HCG is the only diet that has worked for me. I don't have much faith in the FDA. They approved ASPARTAME for massive consumption because they can be bought! Check out the documentary "Sweet Misery" you will be shocked! They also approved Splenda which has more properties in common with poison than it has with food.
Anyway, HCG helped me go from 280 lbs to 230 lbs in 3 months, doing it 25 days at a time with 3 weeks off in between. It helps to suppress hunger and mobilize stored energy so you can eat 500 calories a day and not feel insatiable and tired.
The police should spend more time hunting down the drug rings that supplied Corey Haim his fake scripts.
