The Vaughan Foods lettuce recall follows a series of recalls including those issued by Andrew Smith Company and Freshway Foods. Last week, Freshway Foods romaine lettuce was suspected of causing an E. coli outbreak that caused 19 people to become ill.
Infection from E. coli can cause mild diarrhea with bloody stools and other symptoms. More severe E. coli symptoms may include Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS), which is a form of kidney failure. Click here to find out: What is E. coli?
