A new restaurant in our area that has been advertising in the local papers, Asian Bistro & Grill.
Thursday was a perfectly sunny, quiet day to stop in and taste the fresh Asian fare available at this locale, the old “Morehouse Appliances” building in New Hartford Shopping Center, 120 – 126 Genesee St. New Hartford, NY 13413.
For first impressions, the outside is nothing fancy:
The inside is not overly adorned. The restaurant offers spacious seating. No wall decor only televisions, one set on each side wall and one at the Sushi Bar.
The booths are comfortable. The service amazingly fast and very friendly. The restaurant was not busy, but it was early in the lunch hour. Based on the flavors and presentation of the following foods enjoyed by this Examiner, this new Bistro will delight in offering a fresh, perfectly proportioned, dining out experience. The menu options are extensive. There is sure to be something for everyone in the family. The prices are not on the low end, but reflective of the food presented on the plate.
Presented with a sweet cucumber pickle starter
and moving to the "Dinosaur Egg" appetizer which offers such a delightful texture and taste experience. It is sweet with chunks of lobster and a hint of crunch. One of the sauces is just slightly spiced. It is highly recommended.(crispy lobster, avocado, and a sauce variety).
The salad with the ginger dressing, superb.
The main meals were a bit over sauced but very tasty and the portions were large: chicken with vegetables
and spicy shrimp with string beans.
Rice with every meal
Finally, juicy sweet chunks of fresh pineapple that tasted like candy.
Way too much to eat in one sitting. Doggy bags with "take out"menus attached.
Another fresh, clean, new, restaurant in the Utica area that presents food for all palates. The Asian Bistro & Grill does not yet have its liquor license but don't let that stop you. just got back home from there. the food was great. i had the crispy duck,it was a huge portion, had to take the rest home. my bf and I really like this place, he had red curry, hell of a lot cheaper than what Mitsuba charges. got free dessert cuz our waitress knew us from when she use to work at Mitsuba. Overall, it was a great experience, will be going again.
As a food critic I would highly recommend this new fusion restaurant. Located in the New Hartford Shopping Center, this jewel combines the best fresh fish and fresh ingredients in their kitchen to you. I have been around since Mitsuba has opened their doors, this place hands down has won me over. It will become the new Sumo. Excellent atmosphere, friendly service, and the prices are incredible. 1/2 price sushi rolls Monday - Wednesday. That's instead of $5 a roll it's only $2.50! Does any other place do that?
