The month of January is ruled by "best of" lists. We all like to see where we've been as a way of putting the old year to rest. However, recapping the year can also help us in moving forward. If you are one of the millions of Americans who have vowed to eat better and lose weight in 2010, let 2009 be your guide.
The following five links represent the most popular diet-related Knoxville Healthy Food Examiner articles last year --each of them giving encouragement and advice to many thousands of readers. Will one of them inspire you in 2010?
1. 5 Fruits with More Fiber Than an Apple
The number of people who clicked this article in 2009 could fill Neyland Stadium, and that may mean a healthier Knoxville in 2010. Fiber is essential for everyone (not just dieters), but is extra-important for those watching their weight, as fiber helps you feel more full. The apple-a-day has some serious competition.
2. 12 Worst Halloween Candy Choices for Dieters
This article's reach extended far beyond Knoxville, becoming a popular link on food and health websites all across the Net last October. While knowing what's in that fun-size candy bar is helpful, the number of views suggests that far too many of us are raiding the kids' Halloween stash. What they don't know won't hurt them.
3. 10 Most Filling Foods for Dieters
Staying full is one of the toughest things about dieting, but this article takes the guesswork out of it. Based on extensive research on satiety conducted in Australia, these 10 foods aren't just suggestions: they represent the 10 foods that outscored all others in their ability to make you feel full.
4. 10 Best Healthy Snacks for Overweight Teens
With childhood obesity on the rise, it gives me a glimmer of hope that so many readers found these tips helpful in 2009. Teenagers are notoriously picky eaters, and they like to eat things that fulfill their craving for junk food. These ten snacks are low in calories and fat, but are easy for young people to "grab and go."
5. 8 Best Condiments for Dieters
You may know what foods to eat when you're dieting, but what the heck do you put on top of them? No one can stick to a diet of plain chicken breasts and steamed broccoli. This slideshow helped thousands learn how to healthfully top their meals without adding too much to the calorie or fat count.

(Grand Prairie Stay at home mom's Examiner)Great tips! I really enjoyed this article! Thank you for looking at my page and leaving me comments ;-) Have a great day!
I love the idea that oatmeal sates you for the morning as that is our weekday breakfast! I am trying a slow-cooker one with apples and dried fruits tonight. As someone who cook a lot of Italian (not dieting friendly), portion control is the key here. I love the tips and am so glad apples and oranges help to overcome hunger!
Great article, especially when I'm trying to lose a few lbs...
This is a really clever idea for an article.

I have not been getting your articles for awhile Elizabeth..don't know why! I'm going to subscribe under a different email address to see if that works:-)
This is a great list of lists. I'm thinking we've got to go one step more in the "meta" direction and do a best of "best of lists" for February!
