20-year old newlywed Michelle Childers is lucky to be alive after a tree branch fell and impaled her through the neck during a drive through the Montana countryside.
The incident occurred as Childers rode in the front passenger seat during a Sunday drive in with her husband along the Lochsa River. Details of the incident are sketchy, but it seems the couple rounded a blind curve a bit too fast and a stray branch struck Michelle and pierced her through the neck.
In video by Washington TV station KHQ, Childers describes an "explosion" of green and a "strange" pressure on her neck and shoulder, along with her confusion at her husband's sudden alarm.
"I asked him 'what? where is it?,'" said Michelle.
Her husband answered, "it's in your neck."
I said, "Okay, it's an injury, I can't go back and press rewind."
The couple kept cool heads and sought prompt medical help.
MSNBC aired photos of Childers' injury.
