The Miley Cyrus lap-dance video released by TMZ on May 12, 2010, shows the 16 year old actor and singer performing a graphic lap-dance for 44 year old Adam Shankman. The sexual nature of the contact between the two (shown in a video close-up) is clearly inappropriate due to the age of the young Disney star.
Young Girls Attracted to Older Men
Many young girls are attracted to older men. Unfortunately, an inexperienced young girl will often feel that the only way to be attractive is through inappropriate sexual behavior. Flirtation, dressing provocatively, and dancing with sexual contact are inappropriate behaviors between young girls and older men. When this activity is encouraged by the adult, it may escalate.
Irresponsible Behavior By the Adult
As the adult in this situation, Adam Shankman, a frequent Dancing With The Stars judge, was clearly not acting responsibly. An adult, faced with inappropriate behavior from a young girl, should avoid contributing to that behavior. The 16 year old Miley Cyrus in the lap-dance video may look like an adult, but she is still underage, and should be treated with respect until she is of age, and old enough to live with the consequences of her decisions.
Is Inappropriate Contact Child Abuse?
An adult that has inappropriate sexual contact with a teenager may run the risk of being accused of child abuse, or prosecuted for the contact as sexual abuse, due to the age of the girl. Miley Cyrus is setting a bad example for all the children who idolize her. It's disgraceful that her behavior gets so much media attention because this sort of thing is just disgusting. As a mother of 10 children, 8 of which are girls under the age of 14, I would never allow them to watch anything Miley Cyrus creates. I pray to the Lord, Jesus Christ, that Miley Cyrus sees the error of her ways and repents for her sins. Lord Jesus, save this poor, lost child from an eternity in Hell for what she has done.
