Moveon.org a liberal political action group is mobilizing to fight concerns about what they term an "anti-choice amendment" contained in the House health reform bill.
According to Moveon.org, the "Stupak amendment" makes insurance coverage for abortion virtually unavailable for millions of women purchasing insurance plans through the newly created health insurance exchange, even if they're using their own money to buy coverage. Senator Gillibrand
The Moveon.org position is that this would be a huge shift in U.S. policy. Senator Gillibrand is quoted as saying it would "dramatically limit reproductive health care." The group is sponsoring a letter writing campaign to urge Congress to keep the anti-choice "Stupak amendment" out of the final health care bill.
If you oppose the Stupak amendment, you can make your feelings known with a letter. Of course, if you favor the amendment you should also write a letter to your representative letting them know your feelings.
