Can Pilates give you a stronger body and a more focused mind?
Enter Lindy Royer, Founder of Park Meadows Pilates and Physical Therapy in Lone Tree, an integrative mind-body center focused on techniques and movement science for whole body rehabilitation and fitness.
Royer received her physiotherapy training in Sydney, Australia, then acquired certification as a Master Pilates Educator, an advanced Neuro-Structural Integration Technique practitioner and a Level 1 Franklin method teacher.
What exactly do Royer’s impressive credentials mean to you? They mean you better buckle in and get ready to break through all the obsolete thoughts you’ve embraced about health and fitness. Now, wrap your mind around an entirely new model of body awareness and strength. Sound good?
Royer builds her practice around Joseph Pilates’ philosophy of movement, which increases strength, flexibility and balance, particularly in the abdomen and back muscles. Muscle control through smooth, mindful movement is the key here.
But that’s not the end of the story. Royer broadens her clients’ toolbox to add more powerful results by using the Franklin Method .
The Franklin method is based on the groundbreaking science of neuroplasticity, which reveals that our brain’s terrain molds and changes based on our movement and thought processes.
More succinctly, Swiss founder Eric Franklin asserts, “what you do with your body affects your thinking and what you think affects your body.”
The Franklin method combines scientific and anatomical analysis with movement and imagery exercises to individually enhance movement and sports performance, based on the way our bodies were naturally designed to move.
Franklin adds that moving your body in either good or bad form creates a permanent pattern at which you become proficient, for better or for worse. It’s just better to learn to move correctly in the first place, and avoid faulty patterns and injury.
Royer passionately believes “this training should be part of every school, college, university, hospital, kindergarten and educational facility.”
So, while she’s going through her levels of Franklin method certification, she’s making a workshop available free to the public on Wednesday, April 21st. Sign up here under "Workshops".
Now, are you ready for a taste of Royer’s body and mind changing work outs? (By the way, you’ll love her Aussie accent and energetic teaching style!)
Check out her sample videos on You Tube and discover how to get absolutely firm abs by replacing the usual menu of tedious crunches with the Head Hover, Curl Forward, Pelvic Movement, and The Bridge.
Enjoy!
