Susan Boyle inspires all who have a dream

This series of articles will highlight inspiring women who are living their dreams. Today's feature is on Susan Boyle with a link to the soul stirring rendition of her recording of Wild Horses.
This week Susan Boyle is in America, she will be singing Wild Horses at America's Got Talent Final. Listening to Susan Boyle sing awakens something in each of us. Her performance of I Dreamed a Dream on Britain's Got Talent touched hearts at the deepest level sending her to instant fame.
From her home page we read, "48-year-old church volunteer, Susan Boyle, was born and raised in Blackburn, Scotland and lived at home with her cat, Pebbles, prior to Britain’s Got Talent.
Susan has been singing since she was 12 years old and, before the show, regularly attended her local church to help out however and whenever she could. For her Britain’s Got Talent audition, Susan chose to sing 'I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables. Her audition went on to be viewed by over 300 million people across the world as Susan rocketed to international stardom." (go to Susan's home page)
The touching story of her putting her dreams on hold, for years, to care for her mother and then her brave journey to make her own dreams come true at age 47 resonates with so many. Daily news broadcasts tell of the darkness in the world and the troubles out there. We need to hear more stories of people who love, care and sacrifice for others, putting their own dreams aside and then the good that flows back to them in the end. Not everyone's sacrifices and service are as spectacular as Susan's but hearing her sing somehow creates a feeling that swells in us and helps us believe that good is rewarded and each of us can reach for our dreams and share our own voice.
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Actually Wild Horses was written by a woman who was severely addicted to drugs.
Meow, I did not know that but isn't it wonderful that even in a personal darkness such a beautiful song could be written and then sung so beautifully by another woman who had come through her own dark times and yet continued to hold on to her dream.
beautiful wonderful enchanting!!!!!!!!
No it wasn't! It was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones.
Do your research. Mick didnt write a lot of his material. Wild Horses was written by a woman named Maureen.
this song was indeed written by mick and keith for the 1971 lp sticky fingers. btw mick stated he did not write this for marianne faithfull (probably the drug addicted woman meow mentions).
You believe that?
Sorry Mick doesn't have that kind of depth. Hes a good performer, but eh, and really whoever wrote it doesn't matter, Susan Boyle owns it now there is no doubt. Shes absolutely amazing with this song. Shes the real deal.
I find myself spellbound by her voice. It's a totally different take than The Stones and I love both versions. Just shows she has good taste in music.
Mick has no depth? He is the quintessential rock and roll performer. Who's next on your no depth radar? Neil Young, George Harrison, Patti Smith, Chrissie Hynde, Ray Davies, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello? BTW have you heard Gram Parsons/Flying Burrito Bros take? Now that is depth!
Thanks for this topic, Mary Ann. Last night on America's Got Talent was the first time I had ever heard Susan Boyle sing, and I have to say I was quite curious. As an opera and musical theatre performer, I had adopted Fantine's lament, "I Dreamed A Dream", as a mainstay in my repetoire many years ago. How surprised as I was that Susan chose to sing a pop piece instead of a classical or musical theatre one. Still, the audience seemed to really enjoy it, and it is definitely a piece that is marketable, as it relates to her story. How wonderful that she is inspiring so many with her successes!
I've just linked to you, Susan Boyle 'Wild Horses,' a glorious love ride. Your piece is lovely.

This is one of my all time favorite love songs - what a beautiful rendition. Thank you Mary Ann.
