Vegans and vegetarians have a variety of options when it comes to buying makeup. Since October is Vegetarian Awareness Month its a great time to look for makeup's new rich fall colors. Many vegan and vegetarian friendly cosmetics can be found at the local drug store. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or PETA along with Marley, Coalition for Consumer Information and Splendora are organizations that confirm cruelty-free manufacturing with labels that make shopping a cinch.
Urban Decay is considered to be the most hip animal friendly cosmetics company. Also setting this company apart from others is that its website offers a "Vegan Looks" section; which has an "Ingredients" icon that lists each ingredient used in the identified product.
Other drugstore cosmetic lines that don't test on animals are Black Radiance, a line that addresses the beauty needs for women of color. Physician's Formula is a cruelty free product that markets useful palettes every season. Revlon one of the most popular drugstore lines is also approved by PETA.
Other widely available cruelty-free cosmetic lines are Aveda and M.A.C (click for local stores). Both brands are pricer than drug store finds and found primarily at shopping malls. M.A.C. takes being environmental friendly one step further by having a well established Back to M.A.C Program which supports recycling its packaging.
