Wichita police are looking for a light colored SUV that left the scene of an accident that claimed the life of a 16-year old Southeast High student.

Investigators say it happened just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning near Lincoln and Woodlawn. School officials said the students were on their lunch hour at the time of the accident.

Witnesses told police that a gray Chrysler and SUV were traveling at a high rate of speed on Lincoln between Edgemoor and Woodlawn. Investigators say occupants in the SUV may have flashed a gun at the other car and that the two vehicles may have collided, causing the car to go out of control.

Five other students riding in a the car, received treatment for their injuries. The student who died was ejected from the vehicle. The other students injured included a 16-year old girl and a 16-year old boy who were listed in fair condition. A 16-year old boy, and two girls ages 14 and 15 were treated and released.

The case has been classified as a suspicious death and both traffic and homicide investigators are now working the case.
