Leslie Van Houten was reported to have slumped in her seat as the denial to her 19th request for parole was denied today. Her next hearing will be scheduled for 2013.
Sentenced to death and commuted to life after the death penalty was overturned, Leslie Van Houten has spent nearly four decades incarcerated for murders that occurred when she was a member of the Manson Family.
Rising from the communal life of the late 60's, Charles Manson gave birth to the Manson Family in an apartment in Berkley, where it began with Charlie and 18 other women in the summer of Love.
Manson grew his family and moved his members through the state of California causing chaos wherever they crossed.
Most members of the Family remain incarcerated and have continually been denied parole throughout the years.

I feel she should be released, she is no better than the sex offeners we put back on the streets, so until our govt. can do better as for as some on the people released as for as I am concern Leslie Van Houton should be out

I guess everyone has a right to their opinion! She should stay in prision along with the rest of the killers, look at it this way what if it was your family member that died how would you feel. You can not compare this to a rapist come on now, these people KILLED 7 or more people, why should they be released? I know our judicial system is not he best but it does serve its purpose for some.

I hope they would grant her parole. She has already languished in jail for so long and expressed her remorse over what happened. I feel for the family of Mrs. Labianca but I think Ms. Van Houten should also be given another chance, a chance to live her remaining years outside the jail.

Yes she did participate in killing human lives, however, she was still a child at 18 years old. She was brainwashed by Manson and is seriously UNLIKELY to ever again physically harm anyone. The animals we let out of prison every day often continue to rape and physically harm others and have to be re-incarcerated repeatedly. "Nevertheless they still keep getting released from prison.
She is now an elderly woman. Lets forgive. She did her time. She was just a kid on drugs and under the influence of Manson - so she herself was a victim. I doubt that she is a danger. And yes - if it was my family that was murdered I would say - its time, she paid with most of her life. Let her go.
Leslie will never be released from prison because of the severity of the crimes they commited. Just like the other people involved with the family like Bobby Beausoliel, Charles "Tex" Watson and Patricia Krenwrincle. These dudes are friggin' murderers man......................they butchered up 7 innocent beautiful people for no reason. I mean "butchered" in every sence of the word. Killing someone in a fight or even shooting a guy is horrible but what these knucleheads did was dispicable. They cut and butchered up these people and enjoyed every minute of it. You see, that is why they will never be paroled because they displayed no remorse for the crimes. Now that "Sadie" Susan Atkins is dead, it's only the three left Pat, Leslie and Tex and of course Manson too and Bobby Beausoliel who killed Gary Hinman, the music teacher in Topanga Canyon in July of 1969. I do believe that some of them are healed and are good people now all these years later. I was looking at Bobby Beausoliel's website and he appears to be healed, rehabilitated and doing great things in life. He is married and has a couple of kids too so I have to give him alot of credit for what he went through. But, because he was linked to Manson, he may never be released from prison. Good. She's a reformed murderess. She's forgiven. Now.... remain inprison in order to help reform others; her actions can be better served where she is; freedom comes from within. No crime of this magnitude can or should be considered "Stupid" She can get as many 2nd chances as she can drum up in the penitentiary. Home Sweet Home Leslie. Saw how the other one died of brain cancer.. a slow agonizing death.
main i have read all these comments i dont really know becuz one way if it was my family i would want in jail for life but then again she old and cant hurt anyone pulse as u saw susan antkins has already died from brain cancer they all have been brainwashed by manson so i think if they let her out den they also let every other manson family besides charles manson but you cant do that becuz now susan is dead so it is to late to let her out i mean they all have said sorry they all said they changed but you never know a person in jail can do outside of jail becuz ther bacially all crazy becuz of being in jail so long
