The season finale of So You Think You Can Dance began Tuesday night on Fox. The So You Think You Can Dance season finale is being split into two shows where the final six contestants are competing to be the winner for the season. This is the sixth season of So You Think You Can Dance, and typically the show works its way down to a final four before the season finale, but this year they wanted to get things wrapped up before the holiday break.
The final six dancers performing on the season six So You Think You Can Dance finale are Ashleigh Di Lello, Kathryn McCormick, Ellenore Scott, Ryan Di Lello, Russell Ferguson, and Jakob Karr. During the season finale, all of the dancers danced three dances, rotating partners so that each girl would be with each guy by the end of the night.
Kathryn and Ryan did a Samba to open the show to the song Magalenha by Sergio Mendes. Fans of the show probably really enjoyed watching Ryan Di Lello dance around with his shirt off, and it was a certainty that judge Mary Murphy certainly did.
Ellenore and Jakob then performed to I Gotcha from the Fosse Broadway Show, and they also did quite well during their performance in a strong way.
Russell and Ashleigh followed them with a dance to Angel Standing By performed by Jewel. It was quite a beautiful performance, and showed a lot of different dancing talents from these two contestants. Russell was the extreme stand-out from the performance though, and the judges really noticed. Nigel even called him "bloody incredible."
Elenore and Ryan teamed up to dance a jazz piece to Kontact Me by Boys Noize after the first extended commercial break, but it didn't seem quite as good as the first performance by either dancer. The song didn't seem like "jazz" either.
Ashleigh and Jakob then took the stage to dance a foxtrot to Let the Good Times Roll by Chuck Brown & Eva Cassidy. They both looked great during the performance, and it added another stellar dance for both of them on the night.
The final dance of this section (dance #6) was performed by Russell and Ellenore doing a Paso Doble to a song from the Blood Diamond soundtrack. Ellenore stole the show this time around, exuding a lot of passion on the floor, but Russell was still strong in his presence.
The next dance was a contemporary piece performed by Kathryn and Jakob to At This Moment by Michael Buble. The song and the dance worked perfectly for both of them, and it could be the one that people not only remember for both dancers, but from the season finale itself. It was definitely a very strong performance.
Married couple Ryan and Ashleigh danced to Michelle Featerstone's I'm There Too in a contemporary performance piece. They were fun to watch together, and the chemistry is always good when they are on the stage at the same time. It was a romantic piece that was perfect for the couple.
That left one final dance of the night, with Kathryn and Russell performing to the song I Can Transform Ya by Chris Brown. It was a good performance for both of them, and it had a lot of great moments to bring excitement to the crowd.
Now that the performers have finished, it's all up to the viewer votes to see who will take home the title of winner for season six.
The tour hour conclusion to the season six finale of So You Think You Can Dance will air on Fox this Wednesday starting at 8:00 P.M. PST.
