Snow is reportedly coming to Eastern Washington on Sunday, with around one to three inches of snow expected. Spokane has already seen a few inches of snow this season, with higher elevations receiving several inches last week. This time however, the valleys should expect to see some of the white flakes tough down, as there will be a chance of accumulating snow totals starting Saturday night and heading into Sunday morning. On one hand this is an exciting time of the year for those that love the snow, but it’s hard not to think back to how badly things went last winter.

Last winter, most of Eastern Washington saw record levels of snow, especially in Spokane, where the levels for a single winter broke the all time record for the region. Snow was falling already at the end of September and the beginning of October last year though, so the region is a little bit behind in that regard this time around. According to KHQ.com, the weather forecast for Saturday night and Sunday morning is going to place the temperature in the upper 20's and lower 30's. That could lead to a noticeable amount of snow that will be coupled by a few high winds in the area.

Late Friday night into Saturday morning there could also be a few snow flurries as the weather system sets its path on Eastern Washington, but with the temperatures approaching the 40's that snow is not expected to stick around. The Sunday night drop in temperature is where the snow warnings are going to come into play, with the need for safe driving elevated for travelers spending time in Eastern Washington. If you are in the area for the Washington State vs. Oregon State football game, make sure that you leave yourself some time to make it back across Washington on Sunday afternoon.

For updated weather coverage as this weather system makes its way into the area, make sure to check out the KHQ Weather Forecast with periodically updated information on what we can expect to see in the next few days. Most importantly, leave yourself plenty of time to get around the city, and give the cars in front of you space to maneuver so that you are ready if someone decides to suddenly slam on the breaks. Be a cautious driver, and you will end up with a lot more success driving on these Eastern Washington roads.
