Oprah is ending her show according to reports. Oprah will be ending the Oprah Winfrey Show when her current contract runs out, bringing to an end a seriously successful run as the queen of television. The Oprah Winfrey Show has been on in some form since 1984, and she is now in her 25th year serving as host of the talk show. The format of the show has changed a bit over the years, and now the Oprah Winfrey Show is one of those talk shows that every celebrity dreams of being on once in their career. Now the announcement has come out that Oprah is ending her show, and that her retirement will go into effect when her current contract runs out.

The Oprah Winfrey Show is now scheduled to end on September 9th, 2011. That gives Oprah quite a few shows between now and then, and the ultimate opportunity to go out on top. The announcement was made through Oprah Winfrey to all the television stations that carry her show, allowing them the heads up before she makes the official announcement herself. Oprah will announce that she is ending her show on Friday, with the expected venue to be her show. This could bump ratings once again, but it’s not like her show has needed to do things like that over the years.

The Oprah Winfrey Show is still the most watched talk show on television, and even though her ratings are down this year, it’s also true that ratings are down for every show on television. More than seven million people watch her show every day, and that has kept her in the #1 spot for quite some time. Now that she has announced she is heading off into the sunset, it’s going to be time for television to announce its new unofficial queen of television. There are definitely two candidates that could easily step into that role, and they are Rachael Ray and Ellen DeGeneres, both of who have talk shows that are doing great in ratings and advertising revenues.

Oprah Winfrey ending her show may come as a big surprise to those that watch her show every day, but it is one of those things that people within the industry have seen coming for a while. Now that Oprah Winfrey has her own television network, she has a lot more work behind the scenes in order to get that network running at full power. That will take time away from her pet projects (such as her show), and it seemed that she wouldn't be able to do it all at some point. Expect the announcement to be a big one on her show this Friday, and the news that Oprah is ending her show to sweep across the internet within the next few hours.

So i wonder if she is pulling a "simpsons"... you know, letting rumors fly that her show is ending and then deciding to stay on another few years :-D It worked for the simpsons!

I can imagine her going over the top for these last few years for sure. Just wait for the holiday shows! They might give away cars!! Tickets to these shows will probably be near impossible to get. She had a good run, and I haven't watched her in YEARS, so I think it's a good time for her to retire.

I am so sad but understand that Oprah needs time to relax and enjoy her life, although I was confused about whether she intends to start another show.

Did anyone else notice how poorly written this article is? It shows up very high on google results, and I would expect a well-written report, not this mediocre article :/

The one mistake that hurt my brain the most was:
There are definitely two candidates that could easily step into that role, both of who have talk shows that are doing great in ratings and advertising revenues.

That should be a "whom." "Of who..." is a prepositional phrase.

Sorry for the critique, I was just really surprised at the lack of attention to news style!
