January 2, 2010 - Twitter is fluttering with Tweets, Facebook is being pounded with posts from people all over the world who have the same message - a message that is clear and constant - "Find Susan Now!"
Susan Powell's Friends and Family are gearing up for the first of it's kind 72-hour "Susan Powell Social Media Blitz" aimed at spreading the word about her disappearance to all corners of the world using Social Networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and others, and via the use of blogging and e-mail.
Coinciding with the "Blitz" will be a "Susan Powell Purple Ribbon Campaign". Both are scheduled to begin Mon., Jan. 4 at 8 a.m.
Susan Powell, 28, has been missing for nearly a month, leaving behind two beautiful young children, Charlie, 4, and Braden, 2.
Her family is desperate to find her. They are reaching out for your help. It's easy and only takes a short amount of your time. So why not join in and help 'find Susan Powell'.
Ways you can help - be part of the 'Blitz" & "Ribbon Campaign"
Susan's Friends and Family need your help to find her. They are simultaneously launching the "Susan Powell Social Media Blitz" and the "Susan Powell Purple Ribbon Campaign" on Mon. Jan. 4 at 8 a.m.
They are asking you to please send them your e-mail address at findsusanpowell@gmail.com. You will be added to their list.
You will then receive an e-mail Mon. morning, Jan. 4, explaining what you can do to help in the search for Susan.
It's easy! What we know so far is a video will be included in the e-mail that goes out on Mon. morning.
You will be asked to forward the video to at least five people you know. "Friends and family," Gifford said, "no spamming or anything." Then ask them to pass it along to their friends, and so on.
You will also be asked to tie a purple ribbon anywhere you can think of to keep Susan's story alive.
More details will be included in the e-mail that will be sent on Monday.
The buzz
People around the world are gearing up for the 'Susan Powell Social Media Blitz' - the first of its kind - and the "Susan Powell Purple Ribbon Campaign"!
The goal behind the 'Blitz" is to get Susan's picture and story out there to every corner of the world - via Social Networking on the Internet - a tool that the family says will help spread the word about Susan's disappearance further and faster than any other way they can think of.
Ed Smart, whose daughter Elizabeth went missing in 2002 and was found alive nine months later, agrees this is a good idea and said, "Keep Susan's face out there, it's what brought Elizabeth home."
Clint Van Zandt from The TODAY Show said this morning, "This helps to get the word out much greater than putting missing posters around a city or on the back of milk cartons or something like that."
The family has been overwhelmed by the amount of support and words of comfort they have received from people around the globe and say it is amazing the number of people who are helping to 'find Susan'.
Please note that the video, below, is not the one that will be included in the e-mail that will be sent Monday.
