Michelle Obama was photographed stepping out of Air Force One and visiting the Grand Canyon in shorts and the public is speaking their mind.
NBC's "Today" received 300,000 responses to Mrs. Obama shorts, and there were mixed reviews.
Many thought that the shorts did not show respect to the Office of the President and the US and other's felt that it should not even be news.
Mrs. Obama has receive criticism and praise in the past for her wardrobe. From her bare arms to her designer suits, lots have been said by the public and the media.
Looking back, this is not the only time Mrs. Obama has been photographed in shorts. Back in June, she was photographed in Madras shorts walking the family dog, Bo on the White House lawn.
Even though Mrs. Obama is on vacation, should she have still refrained from looking like it? What do you think?

There is a War going on, a economy in shambles and you, the media is talking about Michelle Obama's shorts. You guys are a disgrace. I forgot wearing pants is more important then some poor Marine fighting for his life in a mountain in Afganistan.
She's walking out of Air Force One, not a tent. It's not a crime, but it's indicative of a sense of decorum that troubles me the most. This was ill-advised.
If there wasn't anything inappropriate about it, nobody would be saying a word.

Obama once assured Chicago residents, in a reference to the summer home of the first president George Bush: "My Kennebunkport is on the south side of Chicago."
The shorts are a TOTAL thumb's down but the timing of this vacation is a slap in the face to those of us who are being sold 'staycation."

It wasn't too hot for the men in uniform to dress appropriately.

Just saw footage of the First Family deplaning in Mass and I applaud their (especially MO's)effort to appear dignified and taking the extra moment or two to shake hands and/or acknowledge the military who guard their lives.

Whenever she's on that plane, or climbing into the Beast, she's at work and on our dime. But, ok, I'll let it go. Let's see if it ever happens again, tho, in public. 'Doubt it. I'm not the only one who feels this way. Read the WaPo. The love affair is weakening. And I'm sick about it. I voted for the guy!
Not her finest hour. Wearing short shorts does her no compliment. She has big hips and big legs, and short shorts only enhance it. Who ever dressed her should know that bermuda shorts would have been classy rather than hanging out there in a slovenly fashion in short shorts.
Your not serious. First her shorts are not short shorts, 2nd they were no vaction who of you out there does not wear shorts on a summer vaction. Inappropriate for a bunch of closed minded people who are to busy judging and not enough time looking themselfs in the mirror.
When getting on and off AF 1 she is representing us as Fist Lady. Once on the ground and with fam in vacation mode, fine....but still look like a rep of the US and not some bum. There are some really comfortable, practical yet stylish outfits that would be much more appropriate for a 1st Lady.
When I was a student @ Texas State Technical college I witnessed Bush and his wife arrive many times for vacation, several times a year, on campus at the airport on their way to their Crawford ranch. They were in Air force one or in one of the many helicopters, all of which operate on "our" dime. Nothing was said about that especially about the several vacations a year. The shorts aren't that short so what's really the issue?
I am 5'9" and have almost 3ft of legs. MOST shorts I wear may appear shorter than the same shorts on a woman who is only 5'6".
But anyway, why are people so judgemental still in 2009. It's not like she had on "Daisy Dukes"! Come on people!
And on my dime I say she can wear shorts on vacation, whether she is on AF1 or in the beast!
Beach mama you are probably upset because you know at Michelle's present age, younger and even older, you'd never be able to wear such a plain, simple pair of shorts like those and still look sexy ;) -just something for you to why this upsets you so much!
Donna what would make you refer to her as looking like a bum? i mean really, you are classless and probably a control freak! but Michelle dictates how she will rule her reign as First Lady and not you!
To BeachMomma: You act as if she is exposing some unpleseant body part. The First Lady is on vacation, as the title states "on vacation at Grand Canyon National Park." She is not at work and her attire is approiate, she has beautiful strong black legs, and defined arms. She is not in her 70's as the past First Ladies have been, she is young and vivrant, and living life as she should. You need to get a life, just as everyone else who is so eager to criticize PRESIDENT OBAMA and his family. I AM SO PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN :)

Ask yourselves this: Would I, as the First Lady, walk down the plank of Air Force One looking like this? If you say Yes,then God help you. If you say No, you have my vote and that means your husband, too.

Just imagine what Sarah Palin whould have been wearing on vacation if the republicans had it their way. Michelle is a beatiful black woman and she is in a position that alot of women wish they could be in, but they weren't qualified. My thing is, stop hating! You can't be Michelle Obama. She is it.

Who really cares what Michelle wears? Get focused!!!! Let's worry about creating jobs, educating our children and keeping our homes. Michelle can get off the plane naked for all i care, what i want is jobs for my unemployed fellow Americans and a better job for myself.
