An El Cajon contractor, Issa T. Salomi, 60, is believed to be the man in the video that was kidnapped by a Shiite militant group in Iraq. The Shiite militant group posted the below Internet video that shows a man they say they abducted. The man appears to be a contractor reported missing by the U.S. military on January 23rd. The U.S. Department of Defense identified the missing civilian contractor as 60-year-old Issa T. Salomi.
The man , who did not identify himself, say that his abductors from the League of the Righteous are demanding release of militants and the prosecution of Blackwater security contractors accused of killing Iraqis in 2007. The video states they want to bring the proper justice and proper punishment to those members of Blackwater company that committed a crime against Iraqi citizens who were innocent bystanders, and to bring justice by proper compensation to their families.
The man in the video is seated in a chair wearing a US. military uniform. The audio is hard to hear but the man says, "I would like to express my wishes to all the members of my family, especially my wife, my children and my friends and to assure everybody that I'm being treated kindly and I'm good health."
It is believe that Salomi was told by the militants that he would be able to meet distant relatives if he came to a Baghdad suburb.
The same league held Peter Moore captive for 31 months and released him last December.
No officials statement has been made from authorities saying whether Salomi was believed to abducted. The Salomi family has issued a statement, released through the FBI in San Diego, saying they were hoping for his safe return.
