The Today Show ran a report on Tiger Woods life and how the scandal has changed his life. With the professional golf season underway, Tiger Woods is missing from it.
Author of America Anonymous, a recovering sex addict and a New York Times contributor Beniot Denizet-Lewis has stayed at the well respected Pine Grove sex rehab center in Mississippi, and said that his sources have confirmed that Woods checked himself in last week. He said that recovery is a lifelong process. The process of recovery takes 4-6 weeks. He said that most people who attend a sex rehab do not go there because they are looking for a cover, but they are trying to get some control over their lives.
Meredith Veira of the Today Show asked the question what is the difference between a sex addict and someone who is a serial cheater?
Dr. Laura Berman, author of the Book of Love said that many people who have the opportunity to cheat…do. And many celebrities have opportunity and are unable to stop themselves. And in, but this doesn’t make them an addict. In order to get the public sympathy vote, those celebrities may claim they have a sex addiction.
A sex addict is compluslive and takes extremely high risks, physical risks, legal risks, etc. in order to get what they need from the addiction. The sex is used to fill a void. Dr. Berman said that she hasn’t seen those behaviors in Tiger Woods (with the information she has). She also said that about 98% of people who check themselves into those program are there because their lives have completely fell apart and they need help putting everything back together.
Tiger Woods favorability rating has been cut nearly in half over the past six weeks. It was at 85% before the Thanksgiving car crash and has dropped to 34%, according to a CNN poll. For more on the poll findings, click here.

Tiger Woods has had three knee surgeries in Park City, Utah and the last one on April 15, 2008, after which he took an extended period of time off from playing golf. He was determined to play in the US Open and win...which he did on June 14, 2008, much to everyone's amazement less than two months after his knee surgery. He was in pain during the US Open, as shown in this Associated Press photo. After the US Open, Tiger Woods took additional time off to let his knee heal.
