Paul Oakenfold worked with Brittany Murphy on her No.1 dance club song and video, ‘Faster Kill Pussycat’ (see Brittany’s video below). Paul Oakenfold spoke to People magazine about Brittany Murphy, in an interview reported Monday.
"Brittany trained as a singer before she did as an actress," Oakenfold told People magazine. "She was a great actress but she had great vocal potential."
Paul Oakenfold wrote and produced the song “Faster Kill Pussycat’ that Murphy performed.
In a 2006 People magazine interview, Murphy said: "I've been singing my whole life and [recording] a lot of anonymous vocals. And this was another anonymous vocal, 20 minutes behind the booth in the recording studio two years ago. Then Paul had asked me if I'd put my name on it. The song is so incredible, I said 'Yes,' and we made a video."
Oakenfold said that he knew he wanted Murphy to be in the music video: "Her presence on the video is very powerful," he said. "She is very commanding visually and that's what we wanted. We wanted that energy and she did a great job."
Oakenfold said that he told her she should be proud of her work on that video, because she rocked. He said that people will be surprised and they were. Oakenfold looked at three other singers for that video, and Brittany was by far the best.
Much to the surprise of fans, Brittany Murphy sang the role of the penguin Gloria in Happy Feet in 2006, and she sounded incredible.
Brittany Murphy was at the House of Hype Gifting Suites during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah in January 2008.
