Over the past few days, the Opryland Hotel was evacuated after severe flooding occurred and destroyed the building, the hotel has been closed indefinitely; 1,500 guests staying at the hotel were moved to a high school for shelter.

So far, a total of 27 people have died in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Kentucky from the weekend storms that created massive flooding, and more than half drowned in the flood waters. 18 of those 27 have died in Tennessee alone.

According to Opryland hotel spokeswoman, Kim Keelor, the Opryland hotel had "significant water" inside and would remain closed indefinitely.

The Grand Ole Opry House is part of the Opryland hotel and was also flooded with several feet of water. Concerts had to be rescheduled to a different location.

Many historic buildings and homes in the Nashville area have been destroyed over the last few days. The Cumberland River crested Monday night but it will be days, perhaps weeks, before the complete damage is known.

In Utah, flash floods typically occur when the snow pack in the mountains melts quickly and brings added water to the Salt Lake City valley floor. Early spring estimates for 2010 report that it is unlikely that Utah will have flash floods this season, but Weather.com states that everyone in the US lives in a flooding zone.

I am just praying for everyone in Nashville to be safe and recover asap, I am also praying with all my might the the Gaylord Opry Land Hotel is open by Nov, two of my friends and myself have reservations for 5 days and nights and we have been every year, this will be our 4th year and we are so upset by this flood, God willing and with a lot of good contractors and helpers it will be open by Nov, even if the bedrooms on the 1st floor have to be shut off and reworked after the holidays, we always ask for the 5th floor on the magnolia hall with an atrium view, still praying fot that this year. May God Bless You All.
