Monday is Quit Facebook day and people around the world plan to delete their accounts today. Two Canadians started the Quit Facebook day website over real concerns about their privacy on the Facebook website, and they are not alone. They have challenged people to delete their Facebook accounts

Facebook boasts over 400 million users, and 25,000 people deleting their accounts sounds like a drop in the bucket. But Facebook knows they have problems and just this past week they admitted to them.

Without apologizing, last week CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted there were security mistakes on the Facebook site and promised they would be fixed. He spoke of the security options as being too confusing for users, and said that they would be simplified. Many Facebook users felt that the security options were never there to begin with, and Facebook contends that perhaps they were too difficult to find.  For more about the privacy concerns Facebook has, click here.

The Quit Facebook website was created by Web technologist Joseph Dee, and Matthew Milan who is a partner at Normative Design. Their website can be found by clicking here.

In Utah, tens of thousands of people have Facebook accounts including the state government and many businesses who promote their local Utah business to the world.
