The Amanda Knox verdict is in and she has been found guilty of all charges. Amanda Knox has been sentenced to 26 years in jail, her ex-boyfriend was sentenced to 25 years. Amanda Knox has been in jail for two years awaiting the trial and verdict that was announced today. She was accused of the brutal murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, along with her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, and an acquaintance Rudy Guede.
The family has stated that they will appeal, and that process will begin before the end of the year. The family has also stated that they will be moving to Italy to help with the appeal process.
The jury consisted of six people and two judges, and they began deliberations early Friday morning. The Amanda Knox family prepared two statements one, if she was found innocent and the other for a guilty verdict.
"If the verdict is not guilty, they will hold a press conference in Perugia at the Brufani Hotel one hour after the verdict," David Marriott a spokesman for the family said Friday. "They have a statement which will probably be read by Deanna, her sister, then they'll open it up for questions."
If Knox is found guilty, they will make a brief statement outside the doors of the Perugia courthouse and take no questions, Marriott said.
Knox stated that on November 2, 2007 that she and her boyfriend at the time were smoking marijuana and had sex at his home the night Meredith Kercher was killed. They came back to her home the next morning, found the front door open, and found a few drops of blood on the floor, but no one was in the home. Knox called her mother even though it was 4:00 am in Seattle because she knew something was wrong. Sollecito was in the home and he called his sister who was a police officer, and they were both told to call the police.
Knox spoke very little Italian, but was able to understand a few words. It was later when police officer kicked down the door to Kercher’s room, that they began to scream, “a foot, a foot” because that is what they saw when they entered the room. When they discovered Kercher’s body, Knox called her mother again hysterical, and was concerned that there was a killer in their home.
According to Amanda, during the interrogation the Italian police yelled and screamed at her to the point where she was so stressed out, and that with the language translation problems, she confessed. Afterwards, she thought they would be able clear it up, but they haven’t.
Rudy Guede, a friend of the roommates was arrested in Germany later. The police monitored a call of his to a friend on Skype and said that he had been at the Kercher’s house, but he never mentioned Amanda Knox. It was only after he was in jail, that he said it was Amanda Knox and her boyfriend Sollecito who did it.
According to an interactive evidence log with photos on the CNN website, the evidence is confusing. And it appears that almost everyone who has been accused or was accused of murdering Meredith Kercher has lied in one way or another. And probably most important, it appears that the crime scene and evidence wasn’t protected by Italian police, or even properly investigated.

I´m happy that both Knox and Sollecito have been found guilty. That means that for however much it is criticized stateside, the Italian justice system works. I´ve been following the case from Europe, contrasting news sources and opinions, and the murderers are where they belong. In prison for a long time. Beyond a doubt.
I agree with Kris & whilst it`s sad that three young people, (remember Amanda is not the only person convicted of this crime) will spend their youth in jail they will be released after 15yrs or so, more than can be said for Meredith Kercher.
The "trial by media" so condemned by Amandas misguided supporters is to a large degree driven by the Knoxes own PR company whos job is to keep this girls face in the news whilst at the same time keeping the compelling evidence of guilt out of it.
To quote this sweet girl next doors own words, (when asked on Nov 2nd how she felt about this awful crime) "S**t happens." Now unfortunately it`s happened to her but justice has been served..
it is amazing how KNOX/MELLAS PR team is waging the war in the American media trying to brainwash people regarding their daughter. Their appaling lack of respect for the brutally murdered victim - meredith kercher and her grieving family will bring them more damage than they expect.
Their denial of DNA evidence is such a crass lie in the face of facts that it takes my breath away there is anyone who falls for it.
Simple question - why Knox bedside lamp was found in Meredith's locked room (Meredith had her own lamp there too) and it did not have one single fingerprint of Knox on it?
Why that lamp was plugged in the socket in the hallway outside of Meredith's room?
Got something to say?
