Toyota is expected to make a decision on recalling Prius hybrid cars on Tuesday. The recall would be because of a brake problem that could potentially be dangerous.
Toyota has already recalled a number of other models due to accelerator problems, and the Prius is likely next on the long and costly list of the Japan-based auto company Toyota's recalls.
The Toyota Prius recall is expected to cover approximately 300,000 vehicles if it goes into effect, some 100,000 of which are in the US. Toyota Motor Corporation's Prius is a hybrid car that utilizes electricity, making it more environmentally friendly than gas-only powered automobiles. First produced in 1997 and sold locally in Japan, it has been a popular car in recent years, with nearly 1.5 million sold worldwide.
Only some of the latest Prius models are expected to be affected if Toyota issues a recall.

Comments
This is bad news for Toyota. Recalling the 2010 Prius for brake glitches will tarnish the reputation of the maker and the model. Hybrids and electric cars are the greenest technology in the mainstream and it would be a shame to see their production and popularity stalled over safety issues.
