The Shaniya Davis investigation surrounding a sexually explicit photo on Mario McNeill's phone of a girl younger than 10-years-old has gone public. Mario McNeill, 29, has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and first-degree murder surrounding the case of murdered 5-year-old Shaniya Davis.
Cumberland County's Senior Resident Superior Judge E. Lynn Johnson ordered to unseal nine search warrants concerning this case on Monday. The Fayetteville police kept the warrant information under wraps, but as of Monday the news of a young black girl's sexually explicit picture on Mario McNeill's phone has been made public.
Who is the girl? No one truly knows except for speculation that it is Shaniya Davis. For the sake of the investigation and the knowledge of the approximate age the photo will not be released for public view nor should it be at this time.
The latest Fayetteville news surrounding the Shaniya Davis case also adds information offered by her older brother. Shaniya Davis' 7-year-old brother had been questioned by investigators. The child told detectives inside of their home he seen a black man with dreadlocks, but soon after he heard "stomping noises" according to the affidavit.
From phones, computers to a GPS system Fayetteville police left nothing behind when it comes to this investigation. All by which will lead to more of a solid case against Mario McNeill and Antoinette Davis.
Mario McNeill was not the only focus on this case. Antoinette Davis, 25, has also been charged with human trafficking, felony child abuse involving prostitution, interfering with an investigation and filing a false police report. Antoinette Davis' next court date is scheduled for February 18, 2010 at the Cumberland County Courthouse. Mario McNeill was scheduled for a court appearance yesterday which most likely surfaced another upcoming court date without further developments.
Mario McNeill is located in Raleigh's Central Prison and Antoinette Davis is located in North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, just 2.44 miles away from each other.
According to the Medical Examiner notes, and other reliable sources, Antoinette Davis was paying back a debt owed to Mario McNeill by trading Shaniya Davis as an exchange.
Shaniya Davis had been reported missing by her biological mother Antoinette Davis. Before Shaniya Davis' body was found in Lee County Fayetteville police charged Antoinette Davis and Mario McNeill with various offenses. After finding Shaniya Davis' body in a wooded area police then charged Mario McNeill with rape and murder. Antoinette Davis has not been charged with murder.

I believe that Shaniya would have been turning 6 next month on the 14th Feb. Poor little girl . . . . I know we will all be thinking of her though no matter what day.

I am disappointed that the DA has not charged the mother with 2nd degree murder since the mother knowingly put her in harms way that lead to her death. I hope the DA gets some balls and does the right thing.
I repeatedly pray for justice for Shaniya. She suffered so much, I wish the worse punishment of mcneill and antoinette. To all others who contributed to her death (and may escape criminal charges) I pray their conscience never allows them peace, ever.

The more I think about it, the more I realise there is so much about this case that just doesn't make any sense...
Mario handed himself over... Why would he do that? Did the police at that point know the identity of the man in the hotel surveillance, if so, did they issue a warrant for his arrest? That would be the only logical reason for him to hand himself over...
The police mentioned that they had received a tip on where to look for her body, they reiterated that it was not an outside informer... that makes me believe that Mario led them to the body, meaning he was directly or indirectly involved (I say indirectly because he might not have been acting alone).
The fact that finalisation of this matter is taking so long, means that there is definitely more to this case than we the public are aware...
Why do the police have to build up a case? Unless Mario plans to plead "Not Guilty"

When does Mario McNeill go to trial? No one is writing anything about him or when we can expect to find out if they are going to convict him. What has happened with Antoinette since she has been released? Is she back to buying and using drugs? Does she talk of any remorse of her role in Shaniya's torture and death?
I cannot believe the mother will not face murder charges.This poor girl is suffering no more, but it sickens my stomach because I have 4 and 7 year old nieces, and I would have probably killed this man if it were them.
