Shaun White wins Gold 2010 Olympics Halfpipe with Double McTwist

SLIDESHOW: U.S. snowboarder Shaun White's Double McTwist 1260 won an Olympic Gold Medal with 48.4 points in the halfpipe competition. Twitter is going viral with Tweets of "Super Size it Shaun!" Another American, Louie Vito, with a score of 39.4 after the 2nd run, was also a contender for a medal. Scotty Lago, another American won the bronze medal.

Who Is Shaun White?

"Shaun Roger White (born September 3, 1986) is an American professional snowboarder and skateboarder. He rides regular stance, twelve and negative three degrees on his board. He is known for his shock of red hair, for which he has become known as "Animal" and "The Flying Tomato." During February 2009, Red Bull built White a halfpipe in the back country of Colorado on the backside of Silverton Mountain. Red Bull built the half pipe completely out of natural snow on one of the back country trails at Silverton," says Wikipedia.

Louis Vito was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 20, 1988, and raised in Bellefontaine, growing up outside Mad River Mountain. He attended the Stratton Mountain School in Vermont and turned pro in 2005. After high school he relocated to Utah to continue his snowboarding career.

Scotty Lago (born November 12, 1987) In Seabrook New Hampshire, is an American snowboarder. He is best known for being the last world quarterpipe champion.

Kelly Clark, Gold Medal Winning Snowboarder

Rhode Island has its share of athletes competing in the 2010 Winter Olympics. One to watch during the 2010 Olympic games is Kelly Clark, a Gold Medal winning snowboarder. Originally born in Newport, Rhode Island on July 26, 1983, Kelly's family moved to Vermont when she was 2 years old. She has been snowboarding since she was 8 years old, and began competing in 1999. Kelly became a member of the US Snowboard team in 2000, and her Olympic Gold Medal win in 2002 made her the first American to win a gold medal in the sport.
