The largest Mega Millions prize ever awarded was on March 6, 2007, when 2 winning tickets purchased by Elaine and Harold Messner of Woodbine, New Jersey, and Eddie Nabors of Dalton, Georgia split the enormous jackpot and ended up with $195 million each.

Of course it's news for R.I. It's big news for any state that sells Mega Millions lottery tickets. Rhode Island sells Mega Millions tickets, so if you bought a ticket here, you'd be sitting on the edge of your chair waiting to see who won too.
