When is Daylight Saving Time 2010?
Yes, Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend, March 14th. To save yourself the aggravation of remembering to set your clocks ahead, or to get up at 2:00am to do it, simply turn the clocks ahead before going to bed tonight. DST ends November 7, 2010, so turning the clocks back an hour in the fall will be required. Read Daylight Saving Time 2010 for more information.
Daylight Saving Time Around the World 2010
Some states do not observe Daylight Saving Time and therefor do not change their clocks ahead in the spring, or back in the fall. The states that do not participate in DST include Arizona (with exceptions), Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa. Rhode Islanders, Change Your Smoke Detector Batteries
Daylight saving time is also a perfect opportunity to not only change your clock but also change the batteries in your smoke alarms. According to WPRI.com, "The Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs (RIAFC) http://www.rifirechiefs.com/ is encouraging all Rhode Islanders to take the time during this weekend's change to Daylight Savings Time to also change the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and make sure they are working properly." Here's an overview for using and buying smoke detectors in the surrounding Rhode Island area.
