A Daytona Beach police officer was arrested Friday, after she was accused of using her grandmother's identification while obtaining an auto loan three years ago.
Claudia Wright, who has been with the agency for five years, faces a charge of uttering forged instruments, uttering a forged check and criminal use of personal identification information. Officials said she could be facing additional charges as the investigation progsses.
Wright's grandmother, Annie Robinson, called the police last month after she noticed she had serious delinquencies on her credit report stemming from an automobile purchase in 2007 that she was not aware of. Robinson said she had first thought something was wrong when she was denied a loan in March.
According to an arrest report from the Daytona Beach Police Department a loan for more than $32,000 was obtained in the names of both women in May 2007 and was reported as a bad debt in April.
During their investigation, police discovered a printout of Robinson's driver's license that could only be obtained from a computer database law enforcement officers have access to.
