The Westboro Baptist Church, famous for its open condemnation of Christians, Jews, and Muslims – as well as just about everyone else under the sun – is up to its old tricks, once again. In their latest act of absurdity, members of this de facto cult have posted an interpolation of the 1985 hit “We are the World”, entitled “God Hates the World” on YouTube.
Based in Topeka, Kansas, this self-identified religious organization – a classification that virtually anyone else would sharply, and rightfully, refute – is headed by Fred Phelps, a man who is, ironically, a disbarred civil rights attorney.
Phelps has made headlines many times over the years, particularly for propagating truly venomous anti-homosexual statements; back in 1998, along with members of his “church”, Phelps actually demonstrated outside the funeral of Matthew Shepard, who died at age 21 after being tortured to death by two men because he was gay.
As a strong believer in free speech, it is my personal opinion that members of the Westboro Baptist Church have a God-given, constitutionally-protected right to say whatever they want, and in the process, they are also free to demonstrate to the rest of the world how truly moronic, idiotic and frankly, sadistic these people are.

Westboro Baptist Church needs to get a grip. I am black and Christian, and if you people try to call yourselves Christians then you should know that God will always love the world and all that inhabit it. I go to Sidwell Friends School and I think that if you freaks think that you need to protest outside SCHOOLS, then you have some serious problems and need to be in a mental institution. (No offense to people in intsitutions or people who are mentally retarded.) You guys need to be more open to other people opinions and differences, or go find youurself another planet and leave us alone. You freaks aren't really a church; you're bigots who are hiding behind the church! Do us all a favor and leave us alone!
