New Orleans has lots to celebrate other than Mardi Gras this year. The Saints have made it to the Super Bowl for the first time in their 43 year history. And Tuesday, February 9, 2010 they will celebrate with a huge parade in their honor--win or lose!
Now that the Saints have become almost everyone's favorite team to win the Super Bowl (except Indiana fans, of course), Louisiana is in the lime-light. "Who Dat" has become a household term and football fans everywhere are rooting for the Saints even though they are still being considered the "underdog". We'll see about that!
The "Saints Super Bowl Parade" will roll at 5:00 pm Tuesday evening starting at the Superdome on Poydras Street in downtown New Orleans. The route will take the parade down Loyola to Howard and then on down to Lee Circle. From there the parade will go to St. Charles Avenue and down Canal Street, back to Tchoupitoulas Street, passing the New Orleans Convention Center and ending at Convention Center Blvd.
All of the players on the New Orleans Saints team and members of the Saints' organization will be in the parade on floats scattered among other entries in the parade.
This is a great way to pay tribute to the Saints for their accomplishments on a winning season. Let's hope they have a new trophy to showcase on one of the floats, but either way--- we are proud of our Louisiana team!
