Tennessee Titan Vince Young got an unsuspected high-five during Monday night's game against the Houston Texans. Vince Young, the Titan quarterback just got up and was walking off the field after kneeling in celebration over the Titan's 20-17 win against the Texans. As he was walking away he received a high-five from a referee.
This is very controversial. Referees are not supposed to interact with players. However, I can't help but think that if I were taking part in an NFL football game I would probably make the same mistake as well. According to a statement recently released by the NFL, the high-five exchanged between the Ref and Vince Young was "accidental."
The NFL contends that the ref was making the appropriate signal that signifies the end of a play. Vince Young saw the Ref with his arm raised, and before the Ref could lower his arm, it appeared as if the two exchanged a high-five.
See the video below to watch the exchange between the two in both slow motion and in real-time. Personally, I think it looks like Young approached the Ref while his arm was up. No matter what, sometimes these in-the-moment actions just happen.

Houston fans are whining it is a conspiracy when their team just can't FINISH games. Also, as you walk past someone with your hand up like that, it is natural to 'high-five' them. Referees, while independent, are just like us & why not 'high-five' the player if he initiated it? The game was OVER..plain and simple. No controversy in my book.
