Black Friday sales are very popular with the bargain hunting crowd. The 2009 Black Friday sales are more important than ever before, as consumers have less money to spend and are looking to find Black Friday deals to help them stretch their hard earned dollars. Stores like Best Buy, Sears, and Walmart are offering doorbuster deals that can save consumers hundreds of dollars.
With all the hype surrounding Black Friday sales, it comes as no surprise that shoppers would arrive at their hot spots hours in advance. However, after driving around Nashville visiting family I came to realize that a few individuals were lining up almost a day in advance.
While I was not out and about at 9:00 am this morning, Travis Davis was already at the West Shopping Center Best Buy location in Nashville. He arrived 20 hours in advance to ensure that he was the first person in line and that he would be the first in the store and would receive all his desired deals. News Channel 5 caught up with Travis Davis and his interview video is located below.
I walked through two Walmart locations today, and there were already people inside the store making their way to the departments where their choice Black Friday sale items were located. Unlike Travis Davis, these individuals were able to wait in the warmth.
While neither of the two people that I interviewed want to be identified, both cited reductions in income as the reasons why they are so desperate to get the deals they want. What did they want? One wanted the $198 eBook laptop for their son, as he is in high school and wants a laptop for Christmas. The other wanted a $598 50" TV for their husband, and that purchase would be all the couple could afford this Christmas.
If you wish to shop the Black Friday sales around Nashville, I suggest you leave your home in the next couple of hours. It's going to be a crazy day, and getting an early start isn't that bad of an idea.
