Adam Lambert followed in the footsteps of his freaky sisters and proceeded to kiss one of his male backup dancers. While the male-male kiss did get a lot of strange looks (just as Britney and Madonna's kiss), it wasn't what made his performance so controversial.
Adam Lambert also took a male backup dancer's head and smashed it in his crotch. While these antics would be welcomed on late-night premium TV such as HBO or Cinemax, it's not exactly appropriate for prime-time television where children may be watching.
If there's an upside to the Adam Lambert AMA performance video it's that the former American Idol contestant is very talented. The shock factor will bring attention to him - attention that is needed considering he has his first album set to debut soon.

Adam Lambert has more talent than most of the lame stuff you hear out here these days. I am glad to see him branching out after Idol. Where was Kris Allen? He did not perform even though he was the Idol winner. It just goes to show who really was better.

why is adam lambert doing this - the guy can sing - he doesnt need the shock value - and to "DAVIE" who wrote this article - YOU THINK THAT WAS A GREAT PERFORMANCE - i think davie just liked "certain parts".

This is the best thing that could have happened to Adam!! All ABC & GMA have done is made him the #1 hottest guest for all the other AM/Talk shows! Risqué or not he does just what we as an audience wants-he pushes our buttons & limits. We don't know what to expect next. He is true to himself. He is just what he is-a hot, in-your-face performer. He appeals to women, men & everyone in between. To be so young he really knows who he is and is NOT apologetic for it
I thought his preformance was raunchy, not only that but he is a bad preformer. And the fact that he did that on prime time tv when little kids are watching is pretty bad. What are we suppose to say to our children when they ask if that behavior is okay for men to go around face humping and making out with other men? What will you say then. Honestly if you ask me He's just down right disgusting!
I think the more fascinating part is that people still watch award shows?! I get bored sometimes, but never THAT bored.
what bothers me the most is people being so close-minded. i am happy to finally see something DIFFERENT out of a performance. adam lambert WORKED IT up on stage. it WASN'T boring. you know it's a good perfomance when everyone in the audience has to lift their jaw from the floor and that's exactly what happened. much props to Adam for staying TRUE to himself and his sexuality. no need to change himself for the homophob's in this country. its 2009. in case you forgot.
to Heather: why would children be even watching the AMA's???? I'm sure there is something a bit more educational on..if not..pop in a disney movie or tell them to read a book. and if my child asked me why a man was kissing another man I'd tell him that's because love is LOVE and sometimes love exists between a man AND a man or a woman AND a woman..it's not always between a man and a woman...and there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.
people need to stop making such a big deal Adam Lambert is amazing regardless of his performance on the AMAs although i thought it was great,all he is is and open artistically free artist and people need to learn how to respect that, especially ABC who is making their lack of respect for Adams artistic freedom know what a disappointed i think ABC made a HUGE mistake i know me and many other people will be tuning into CBS tomorrow instead of ABC because people want to see Adam Lambert, good going ABC
The American Music Awards should be showcasing musical talent not throwing homosexuality in your face. Lets face it...it may be the 20th century but a majority of the population rather not watch two men make out and imitate sexual poses. Yes, homosexuality is more common..but show me a state that has voted in favor of the right to same sex marriage. I have no problem with any sexual preference but this takes it to far.
