The American Music Awards 2009 were exciting for Nashville. Not only did Taylor Swift win 5 AMAs, a relatively new Nashville-Based band called Gloriana won the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist Award. Gloriana shockingly beat out Lady Gaga, and won their second award in the past couple of weeks.
Gloriana received the "On Your Side" award from Nationwide at the 2009 CMAs.
Gloriana consists of Tom Gossin, Mike Gossin, Rachel Reinert and Cheyenne Kimball. Premiere Nashville songwriter Jeffrey Steele writes songs for the band, which is produced by Matt Serletic.
It's hard not to be talented in Nashville when you have songwriters who have worked with artists such as Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw, and Rascal Flatts. Gloriana will be another hit country sensation.
Many are disappointed that Lady Gaga didn't win the award. However, Gloriana is deserving of the award. Their comforting music and down-home lyrics truly depict some of Nashville's finest talent. Lady Gaga will undoubtedly win her share of awards in years to come as she presents herself
