It's never too early to start planning for Christmas, especially when preparations involve stringing 10,000 lights on 1 1/2 miles of 60-foot deodar trees and putting on a community festival.
It seems the light just came down, and already Altadena's Christmas Tree Lane Association (CTLA) is soliciting vendors for 2010's 90th lighting ceremony and second annual Winter Arts and Crafts Festival. The festival takes place on Saturday, December 11 starting at 2 p.m. in theAltadena Library parking lot on Santa Rosa Avenue just below Mariposa Street. The lighting ceremony follows at 6 p.m.
Interested vendors can download a pdf application and fax or email it to CTLA. The cost per vendor is $75 for a 10’ x 10’ space. It includes usage of the generator for evening lighting. The vendor must supply his own tables and canopy. Space is limited and first respondents for reservations are given priority.
Altadena's Christmas Tree Lane is a California State Landmark that has delighted locals and tourists visiting for the Rose Parade for decades with its magnificent display. It depends on volunteers to prepare the lights, get them on the trees, take them down after January 1, and groom the Lane for visitors.
