Leprechaun bank robber also linked to Santa bank robber

A man dressed as a Leprechaun in a St. Patrick's Day bank robbery has been linked to a Christmastime bank holdup by a man dressed as St. Claus.

The St. Patrick's Day robbery took place in Gallatin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.  The first suspect, dressed in a tall felt hat, fake beard, and long green garment was first seen at Fifth-Third bank, but left without incident.  He then went to a nearby First State Bank, robbing them.  The suspect jumped into a car with another man and raced off.  With police chasing them, one of the men leaned out the passenger window and shot at police.  They eventually crashed into a field, and exchanged fire with officers.  Jonathan Ryan Skinner was shot by police while the second suspect, David Christopher Cotton, shot himself as police moved in on him.

Police have credited the FBI with linking Cotton to the December 22 Santa robbery in Nashville.  In that robbery, a man dressed as Santa (believed to be Cotton), "filled a red sack with money and fled the scene a gray car parked in a nearby church parking lot."

Police are currently determining if the suspects are linked to any other unsolved bank robberies.
