Detroit – Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was in court today and under fire from prosecuting attorneys for not revealing what they claim are hidden assets.

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections Probation Department, Kilpatrick made another $3,000 payment on Nov. 6 instead of the $6,000 required.  The prosecution is contending Kilpatrick had no right to reduce his payments

Assistant Prosecutor Athina Siringas claimed during the hearing that Kilpatrick has "hidden" assets, saying Kilpatrick did not tell the court about a Harley-Davidson motorcycle he owns.

According to court transcripts, Kilpatrick admitted today that he did not disclose to the court that he has a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a $150,000 loan that he received just after he got out of jail in February.

"He's never made full disclosure to the court," Siringas said.

When Kilpatrick was asked about another loan, he reportedly refused to answer, asserting his right to the Fifth Amendment. "I'm going to take the Fifth," he said.

In an excerpt from an interview posted online yesterday with Kilpatrick and The Final Call, the Nation of Islam’s newspaper, he said he still loves Christine Beatty, Kilpatrick’s former chief of staff.

"I tried to make sure that she understands that I still care about her very deeply,” Kilpatrick said. “A lot of times when women get caught in a situation like that, they get perceived as a whore. I think that is so unfair. It takes two to tango. She is a very good person. We made some bad decisions and we are living with the consequences of those decisions, but I respect her tremendously and love her."

It was during Kilpatrick’s civil trial two years ago when he denied his affair with Beatty and mistruths about firing police officers that led to an $8.4 million settlement and landed both Kilpatrick and Beatty in jail.
