Autopsy results show that Billy Mays took cocaine within days of his death.
The 50-year-old infomercial pitchman was famous for his beard and his phrase, "Hi. Billy Mays here for Oxiclean."
Although his death was originally considered linked to the impact of luggage on an airplane, it was later discovered that he was on pain medication for a pending surgery.
But the autopsy shows yet another scenerio. He had taken cocaine within days of his death.

wow
First of all, they found cocaine matabolites in his system, not pre-metabolized cocaine. This means he had taken the drug days before his death, and his system had completely metabolized all traces of cocaine. Quite simply, there is no basis for saying that cocaine use "may have lead to" Mays' death. The medical examiner listed the drug as a "contributing cause" only because he died of heart disease and was found to have used cocaine previously. The two are not necessarily related.
Also, his system was found to contain alcohol and several pharmaceuticals, including hydrocodone, oxycodone, tramadol, alprazolam (Xanax), and diazepam (Valium). These drugs all carry roughly the same potential as cocaine for both overdose and long-term addiction. However, our society has deemed these substances to be "acceptable", and has thumbed its nose at politically incorrect substances. I bet we never hear about the scrips again, and the cocaine will be billed as the "cause of death".
