Travis Pastrana set a new world record for the longest jump in a rally car.

On Dec. 31, 2009 shortly after 9 p.m. PT, Pastrana jumped his Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally car off the Pine Street Pier onto a barge anchored in the Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach, CA. He landed after 269 feet, demolishing Ken Block’s previous record of 171 feet set in Nov. 2006.

Upon landing, the 26-year-old skidded his Red Bull Subaru sideways, slamming into a barrier wall at the end of the barge. The thrill seeker emerged from the car unscathed as he exclaimed, “Woo Hoo! That was sick!” He ran to the end of the barge explaining that the landing was slick then topped off the stunt with a back flip into the harbor.
