Sarah Palin and William Shatner appeared on Conan O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” peforming dramatic readings from each other’s autobiographies, “Going Rogue: An American Life” and “Up Till Now” respectively.
Shatner started out the night with his interpretation of passages from Palin’s memoir. “I looked down to see the moose’s eyeballs lying in his palm, still warm from the critter’s head.” He continued with mentions of Kid Rock, Alaska’s animals, mashed potatoes, and stalking sheep.
Palin surprised the audience with a walk-on. She commended Shatner on his reading and retorted with her own beat poetry version of excerpts from his book. “My whole being resonated with incredible feeling that I was going to go visit with an elephant on a starlit moonless night in Africa and I was going to visit that elephant in my underwear.” Palin also included lines involving Shatner’s first Star Trek convention, the money offered to him, and thoughts of T.J. Hooker.
The beat poetry, accompanied by bongos, received roars of laughter from the audience. See video below.
Palin just finished her cross-country tour for "Going Rogue: An American Life." See pictures from book signings below.
