Matthew Roberts made the astonishing discovery that his biological father is none other than Charles Manson, the mastermind behind the Manson Family that was responsible for the killing spree that gripped Los Angeles in 1969.
Roberts told the Sun, "I didn't want to believe it. I was frightened and angry. It's like finding out that Adolf Hitler is your father, I'm a peaceful person - trapped in the face of a monster."
According to the Sun, the LA based DJ said that he began searching for his biological parents 12 years ago. He tracked down his mother in Wisconsin and afterwards the two began to exchange letters, it was in one of those letters she revealed the identity of his real father.
She explained that she traveled with Manson to San Francisco two years prior to the murders. During the trip Manson had raped her in what was described as a drug fuelled orgy. She always believed that Manson was the father of her child.
Manson, who is serving his life sentence in Corcoran State Prison, has exchanged letters with Roberts.
Roberts told the Sun he battles conflicting emotions towards his father.
"He sends me weird stuff and always signs it with his swastika," he explained to the Sun. "At first I was stunned and depressed. I wasn't able to speak for a day. I remember not being able to eat."
"He's my biological father and I can't help but have some kind of emotional connection. That's the hardest thing of all - feeling love for a monster who raped my mother.”
Manson turned 75 years old earlier this month.
