There is an old legend about Tariffville Road in East Granby Connecticut. Located off of Route 189 at the end of a cul-de-sac the road has been over grown with wild grasses, trees and shrubs. There is a steep drop off of a cliff and it is said that several accidents and fatalities have occurred. This has given rise to the nickname, “The Evil Knieval Highway”.
Locals say that the area is alive with paranormal activity, they have witnessed phantom head lights and a disembodied female voice crying. The Connecticut Ghost Seekers traveled to The Evil Knieval Highway to perform a paranormal investigation. As they approached one of the curves in the road many of the group suddenly experienced a feeling of fear and needed to leave the area. Perhaps they were feeling the dread of when people have driven over the cliff and died.
They divided into two separate groups, one explored the bottom of a small incline in the road and the other went to the top. Both groups experienced the phantom headlights almost simultaneously. They blinked before disappearing into thin air and due to the thickly wooded area it would have been impossible for any normal vehicle to drive through there. A twenty degree temperature change was also recorded. (Significant drops in temperature are often a sign of paranormal activity).
One of their team members also called out to an individual she knew that had perished on the road, they snapped a picture and a half body apparition with the features of the person that she knew appeared in the photo. The group returned to the highway for a second investigation, they did not experience the temperature changes but two members did experience sudden feelings of nausea. If you’d like to visit the Evil Knieval highway, please follow these directions but if you do, be cautious.

It wouldn't let me add the link in this comment. Just do a Google earth map search on Tariffville Road in East Granby ,CT. Make sure you choose satellite and it is really cool!
Let me know what you think!!
Thanks Lauren for all of your writing that you do on ghosts and legends that are in Connecticut. I would love to become an investigator but just don't have the time right now. This site (Examiner.com) makes it easy to learn about all of the stuff going on in the area regarding paranormal activity. Lauren do recommend any other sites that help people like me get into the action?
Thanks,
Lisa C / Milford, CT

Hey Lisa, the best websites for ghostly information are www.ghostvillage.com and www.theshadowlands.net!
i have been to evel kinevel road many times. what you are missing though is there is a man who walks heavily in work boots that you can hear walking toward you. and you drop something off the larger cliff you can instantly hear scampering and crawling up the hillside. back when i first started going there, there was a bell hung from the tree which was used to "call" up the apparitions. there is much more there than you have seen. make sure to not go with to many ppl in your group, maybe five max and i promis you wont be dissapointed. oh also if you notice the church to your left on your way there is in fact a satanic church where i personally have witness an apparition standing in the bell tower
This is some great information, I would like to use it in a book I'm writing about haunted Connecticut!
Thanks, Lauren Neslusan
