Last year’s blockbuster film Paranormal Activity terrified audiences across the United States. This ingenious, low budget “found footage” film grossed over 151 million dollars worldwide. The film released nationwide in October of 2009 and follows the story of Katie Featherstone and Micah Sloat.
The young couple begin to experience strange things in their home and decide to set up a camera in to record the activity. All the movie footage is from the same hand held camera and was an ingenious way to work with a budget of only 15,000.
Oren Peli was the first director and has handed the reins to Tod Williams, director of 2004’s The Door in the Floor. Oren has written the Paranormal 2 along with Michael Perry so he hasn’t completely deserted the movie. Originally, Saw director, Kevin Gruetert was going to make the movie but he decided to stick with the Saw franchise instead.
The plot of Paranormal Activity 2 has been kept under wraps but rumor has it that the original actors, Micah and Katie will be back. The film releases October 22 2010 nationwide. It’s perfect timing for those looking Halloween scare.
More and more films are coming out which portray what really occurs in true hauntings. It’s not just someone running around clanking chains in a white sheet anymore. The Haunting in Connecticut was based on a true story out of a home with a demonic presence right here in Southington Connecticut. I am eagerly looking forward the Paranormal 2’s release and will probably be buying tickets for the midnight screening weeks in advance!
