A Valentine's Day ghost tour at Slater Mill for your paranormal sweetheart

A hop, skip and jump through Connecticut and down Route 6 will take you into historic Pawtucket Rhode Island. This city is home to many things, The Paw Sox, The Blackstone River and the nation’s first successful cotton mill, Slater Mill. It is known as “the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution”.

The mill ceased cotton production in 1829 and was occupied by many different renters who changed the structure to whatever business they pursued. The passing of the mill’s last owner opened an opportunity for group of local business men who organized “The Old Slater Mill Association”.

The museum was finally opened in the early 1950s and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. The museum also includes the Wilkinson Mill and Sylanus Brown House. Slater Mill is open for tours of five or more November through February by appointment, March and April, Saturday and Sunday 11AM to 3PM and May through October, Tuesday to Sunday, 10AM through 4PM. However there are other interesting tours that go on after dark at Slater Mill…

On February 17th a Valentine ’s Day ghost tour will be held on the mill grounds. Slater  not only has historical significance but it is also quite haunted. Carl and Keith Johnson; famous authorities on the paranormal will take you through each building at the site and perform an actual paranormal investigation that you can participate in. The mill is allegedly haunted by the spirits of workers that may have been injured or died while employed there.

My investigation group, Quiet Corner Paranormal have been there twice and we’ve caught many forms of evidence. The Wilkinson Mill is one of our favorite buildings; we’ve heard disembodied footsteps upstairs, seen shadows in the basement and even caught strange mists in photos.  Black Cross Paranormal has also caught many pieces of evidence in Wilkinson as well.

There is always something paranormal that happens on the tours. The spirit of a little girl named Becca usually makes her presence known to guests of the Sylvanus Brown House. We’ve caught her on a voice recorder singing along to “Ring around the Rosie”. She has also manifested as a shadow darting around in the basement. The tour starts at 7:30PM and costs $20, it is not recommended for children under ten. Please call 401.725.8638 to make reservations or visit www.slatermill.org for more information.
