Cocktail Compass in an application for the iPhone that makes you a Happy Hour expert anywhere you go! Just open up the app store, choose the Cocktail Compass for your city (Portland or Seattle) and download it start to your phone (it's FREE!).
The iPhone uses the GPS to pinpoint your location, and lists out the closest Happy Hour bars and restaurants. Not only does it tell you the name and address of the bar, but exactly how much time is left in Happy Hour (If you see a red number, it means time's almost up- I suggest you run and order as soon as you get inside)! This application has allowed me to discover multiple bars I had never heard of, and enjoy great deals while getting to know a new establishment. It also gives you wonderful options for unfamiliar territory; heaven forbid you find yourself on the other corner of town without a clue where to find a cheap beer!
This application shows of all the facets and power of the iPhone, and is a lot of fun for the user. Never have I had such rapid Happy Hour knowledge at my fingertips! If you don't like the sound of any of the nearby bars? There's search options where you can choose by neighborhood and features! Family friendly, cheap eats, delivery, if your parents are paying....you name it and this application breaks it down for you! Or just do as I like to; scroll through the "All bars" section until one sounds good! You can even save your favorites right on your phone if you have one too many to remember the name and location of this new great happy hour spot. And speaking of "a few too many" there's even a cab section built into the application, so you can indulge worry free and call for a ride!
This application may not be the perfect Happy Hour resource, but it's a lot of fun to play with and see where you end up spending your Happy Hour*.
