Christian Dior held their resort 2011 runway show back in June 2010, but the handbag collection is just making it from runway to reality in September and October. Christian Dior showed a bridge between the Fall 2010 vintage trend and the upcoming Spring 2011 feminine trend on the runway through fabulous candy colored frocks, lace, mini-dresses, bow details, cropped pants and of course, fabulous new versions of the Fall 2010 lady bag trend. The handbags for resort 2011 in the Dior collection are still proper and structured as they were in the Fall. The main difference between the lady bags from Fall and the new lady bags for Resort and Spring is that the straps are longer and the colors brighter.
Dior showed fabulous, structured handbags on the runway that were a cross between 1950's/1960's structure and 1980's/1990's strap length. The totes were small or medium sized with double top handles and removable double shoulder straps. Dior's evening bags were small and brightly colored with beadwork and long double or single straps. Handbags were small and medium sized with double straps and the famous Lady Dior handbag has received a make-over with the addition of longer, double shoulder straps that are detachable.
Handbag colors for Resort 2011 from the Dior runway were bright candy pink, candy purple, citron, white, black and soft orange. Dior showed the candy colored handbags with the same, candy colored frocks signaling a trend towards tonal dressing; a nod to the early 1990's in a 1960's color palette.
Handbag Fashionistas will enjoy the upcoming Dior resort 2011 collection as the colors are fresh and attractive, making them a great addition to any handbag collection. Resort is always a great way to get an early start on the upcoming Spring trends. As most Fashionistas already own a black or white handbag, why not pick up a candy treat in pink, purple or soft orange? The Dior resort handbag collection will hit store shelves later this month and in October.
