Wicked skills: A variation on an old transition and more

It's probably not fair to call the Khorkina II an old transition on uneven bars. Khorkina herself is all of 30; the low to high bar transition she pioneered is only about half that age. Anyways, here's Russia's new star Viktoria Komova, winner of last week's Voronin Cup, doing the Khorkina II in a new way, from an inside stalder.

People have been doing fun variations on the Khorkina II for years. My personal favorite is Nicole Harris's from the 2004 Parkette Invitational, when she did it from a toe-on. The Netherlands's Laura van Leeuen did it the same year, and it's named for her.

If that doesn't knock your socks off, here's a gorgeous Arabian double front layout from Japan's Kikuchi Susake.

And oh yeah, 2009 World all-around champion Kohei Uchimura is throwing triple-twisting double backs in training -- and making them look darn good.
