Saturday NCAA wrap: Oklahoma posts highest NCAA score of the season (so far)

And here's what went on Saturday night in NCAA women's action:

Alabama vs. Penn State, Michigan State and Cornell: Alabama 196.175, Penn State 196.1, Michigan State 192.875, Cornell 188.85. The defending NCAA champions won the meet, but a pair of Penn Staters made sure the Crimson Tide didn't take home all the prizes up for grabs in this quad matchup. All-around champion Sharaya Musser of Penn State (39.425) also won bars (9.9) and tied for first on beam with teammate Whitney Bencsko (9.9). Bencsko won floor as well (9.9), and Alabama's Ashley Sledge took the title on vault. (Alabama Crimson Tide)

Oklahoma vs. Utah State, Texas Woman's, Centenary: Oklahoma 197.45, TWU 192.425, Utah State 192.325, Centenary 191.45. This meet was simply a showcase for Oklahoma, which posted the highest score seen in the NCAA so far this season. Senior Megan Ferguson won beam (9.9) and floor (9.95), Sara Stone took the title on vault (9.925) and Brie Olson was the best on bars (9.95). Taylor Spears won the all-around (39.2), underscoring Oklahoma's depth. (Oklahoma Sooners)

George Washington vs. Ohio State: Ohio State 195.9, George Washington 188.9. It was a good night to be a Buckeye: Ohio State romped this one, winning every individual title and besting challenger George Washington by a full seven points. Ohio State's Colleen Dean took the all-around with 39.3 and was the top gymnast on floor exercise (9.9) as well. Sophomore Sarah Miller won beam (9.85) and vault (9.875), while Casey Williamson was the event titleist on bars (9.85). (Ohio State Buckeyes

Illinois State vs. Southeast Missouri State: Illinois State 192.2, Southeast Missouri 186.775. Illinois State was led by all-around champion Sami King, a freshman, who posted a career-high 38.6. Illinois State's Elise Gray and Southeast Missouri's Megan Fosnow shared the title on vault (9.8 apiece), while Marissa Storm of Illinois State won beam (9.675) and teammate Apollonia Barrientos was victorious on bars (9.675). Southeast Missouri's Emma Garrett won floor (9.75). (Illinois State Redbirds

Illinois vs. Iowa: Illinois 195.075, Iowa 195.075. Well, that doesn't happen too often. Iowa's Maya Wickus tied Illinois's Kelsey Joannides on vault (9.85), while Joannides won bars (9.875), beam (9.9) and the all-around (39.175) in her own right. Amber See matched the meet high score (9.9) to give Illinois another title on floor. (Fighting Illini)

Michigan vs. Minnesota: Michigan 193.15, Minnesota 193.0. You might think that Michigan, smarting from the loss of three veteran performers from the 2011 season, is off to a slow start this year. But the low team score is offset by the individual talent of freshman Sachi Sugiyama, who won the all-around title (39.05) and tied teammate Joanna Sampson for first place on vault (9.85), while sharing top honors with Natalie Bielstein on bars (9.8). Michigan's Katie Zurales won beam (9.825), while Minnesota's Kayla Slechta was the victor on floor (9.85). (Michigan Wolverines

New Hampshire vs. Pittsburgh: New Hampshire 194.15, Pitt 193.725. They may have fallen to New Hampshire, but the Pitt women earned their highest score in two years at this away meet. The individual titles were dominated by UNH's Allison Carr, who won vault (9.875), bars (9.775, tied with teammate Danielle Reibold), and beam (9.875). UNH's Katie McGeever won floor (9.9), and Pitt's Haley Bodenheimer took the all-around (38.85). (New Hampshire Wildcats

North Carolina State vs. UIC: North Carolina 194.2, UIC 193.05. UIC's Andrea Skala won the all-around (38.8) but watched her team fall to visitor NC State, led by vault and floor champion Brooke Barr (9.8 vault, 9.875 floor). NC State's Rachel Fincham was the winner on bars (9.825), and veteran Jess Panza took beam (9.85). (NC State Wolfpack

Central Michigan vs. Ball State: Central Michigan 193.35, Ball State 190.1. CMU remains perfect on the year in large part due to its three strong all-arounders (AA champion Rebecca Druien won with 38.725, while Brittany Petzold and Kristin Teubner were the only other gymnasts to compete all four events.) Petzold won a share of the titles on vault (9.8, tied with Teubner) and bars (9.775, tied with teammate Kylie Fagan and Ball State's Julie Cotter). Druien tied teammate Taylor Noonan on beam (9.725), while Teubner won floor all on her own (9.8). (Central Michigan Chippewas)

West Virginia vs. Bowling Green: West Virginia 193.475, Bowling Green 193.225. WVU's Hope Sloanhoffer was the only gymnast (out of five) to break 39 in the all-around, winning the overall competition with 39.075, adding the title on bars (9.775) and tying for first on vault (9.825, with Bowling Green's Jamilah Ali.) Ali won balance beam (9.8), while WVU's Alaska Richardson had the high on floor (9.85). (West Virginia Mountaineers

Cortland State vs. West Chester: West Chester 188.075, Cortland 185.575. SUNY-Cortland's Sarah Nadrowski won the all-around (37.45), while her teammate Marissa Goodstein shared the vault honors with West Chester's Stephanie Schuler (9.65 all). Cortland's Cady Tinney won bars (9.55), Elise Konikoff beam (9.725) and Courtney Mangini floor (9.825). (West Chester Golden Rams

Wisconsin-Oshkosh vs. Gustavus Adolphus: Oshkosh 176.4, Gustavus Adolphus 168.2. Five different gymnasts took event honors in this Division III meet: Oshkosh's Leah Herchenbach (34.925 all-around) and teammates Abby Zubella (9.175 on floor), Jill Lindberg (9.325 on beam), Leane Blais (9.45 on bars) and Gustavus Adolphus's Samantha Opsahl (9.3 on vault). (Gustavus Adolphus Athletics

Wisconsin-La Crosse vs. Wisconsin-Whitewater: Whitewater 184.825, La Crosse 181.9. Led by all-around champion Katie Thompson (36.875), Whitewater gymnasts accounted for four of five event titles. Thompson led on vault as well as the AA (9.4), and teammate Allyse Dieringer posted the top score on bars (9.7). Whitewater's Katrin Finch shared the beam title with La Crosse's Morgan Shene (9.45), while two La Crosse gymnasts -- Katrina Schuch and Jenna Swails -- enjoyed first place on floor (9.5). Stout's Brittany DeZiel (yes, she's Jessie DeZiel's sister), won bars (9.4). (Hamline Athletics
